Fixed Keel on I563

I lifted this quote from another thread because I thought I should start a new one about this topic. I'm sure I read another post where where it was said that their I563 never had a centreplate.

I would like to hear from anybody on the forum who has modified their keel by removing the centreplate altogether. What did they do - how was it done.

It would also be interesting to learn how many of us simply sail with a stuck plate.

Peter,
She will sail without the centreplate, but the pointing ability is reduced. Note that pointing is not where the bow is pointing, but the course made good through the water. Without the centreboard she slips downwind more. It is a good design, and I do not think mods would improve it.
