Steve mentioned he had a Navik wind vane. Steve- please tell us about it- is it on an Investigator 563?
Currently my "counting sheep" sleep inducing technique, is to try to design a simple windvane self steering system for an Investigator 563 or similar small T/S. Really not neccessary for our inshore boats, but still a challenging exercise.

Re: Wind Vane Self Steering
Hi Ian,
I do have a Navik windvane but It is not on the 563 (yet). I removed it from my other boat a few weeks ago for road transport so its all here in my shed at the moment. As soon as I get a chance I will size it up at the stern of the 563 and get some photos. I may be able to make a short video of its operation, showing the linkages etc. I wouldn't think it would be too difficult and/or expensive to build a DIY custom wind vane for a small trailer sailer like a 563 based on the design of a Navik
