Stoves
Re: Stoves
Just a simple clean with some elbow grease got it looking a lot better. Was thinking of polishing it etc but pretty happy with just a clean.

Re: Stoves
I bung a thin spray of cooking oil on the tank after use Luke. Helps stop the chrome from re-oxidising and I’ve already got the can out of the box to cook with . Suppose WD would work too. I keep it in a box but mines only a single.

Re: Stoves
I was on gummy and just ran a quick check for spares. Here’s one, for parts …gimbal kit as well. Victoria.
https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mount-e ... 1304854220 It looks like Maxie but not branded as such. It’s a “First Mate”
If you do Australian wide “metho stove” search a few come up.

Re: Stoves
After firing it up and using it a few times in the backyard I’m totally into the metho fuel cooking. Kids enjoyed noodles along the way.

Re: Stoves
Got a few salt pitting marks on the tank. Think it’s chrome plated and not stainless otherwise I’d give it a buff to get rid of. A clean and a scrub have minimised it, recon if I go further I might not see improvement but more wear.

Re: Stoves
Gday, just thought I’d share a project I’m working on related to this topic.
I have an original issued Swedish army stainless mess kit and in the process of making a gimbal for it.
The total kit is small and compact, comes with pot and pan, weather shield, larger Trangia burner, fuel container, a plastic kuksa and eating utensils can opener.
Just need to make a ply box for it, line it with fire proof material and bobs your auntie.
Very popular with campers, preppers and hiking. Expensive for the original but has everything you need. Picked one up for $270
Many other similar types of military mess kits for sale cheaper but made of aluminum but much cheaper if you look hard enough.
The company Pathfinder make a copy totally out of stainless so very suitable for a marine environment. $129.00 plus freight for just the pot, pan, weather shield from survival supplies Australia. No Trangia, fuel container, cup or eating utensils..
Obviously there are better options available for cruising but it just seemed like another way to get use out of it other than the van, camping or hiking.
Would put some photos but can’t work out how to post them up from my phone.

I use a compressing application to reduce the file size. Think it’s called “photo compress”

Re: Stoves
Hi,
I’ve done my best to attach the photos below.
Aluminum put together with rivets. Next to make a galley box maybe we’ll see how it works for now.
I used a photo compress app.
Cheers for the tips
