Thanks for sharing that very interesting to see someone else's playground I had get get the charts out to see your passage but it looks fun up there, pretty empty down this wa in comparison. Where is your Mainsheet attached? is it in the transom but not set up?

Cheers

Mark

Exactly Mark. Ian and co very lucky living in yachting heaven.
Mainsheet still attached to transom traveller in photo but unclipped from boom.(hence the big mess on the.cockpit floor) boom was clipped onto topping lift.
Reason was my cruiser friend was anxious to.clear the sea swells around Barrenjoey and run for the Hawkesbury so I had to gun the motor.
Pretty tame sea though Mark - easy for seasoned sailors like us but a worry for these stink boaters!

An outgoing tide against easterly swells can make the area near Barrenjoey Head where Pittwater meets Broken Bay, into a washing machine. They call it "confused seas" where waves suddenly rear up, and throw you around like you are in a washing machine.

Great area Emrys, thanks for sharing. My youngest daughter moved to Wahroonga area earlier this year so we went down and checked out the peninsula , had lunch at Barrenjoey House and watched the ferry come and go and the yacht traffic . It certainly looks like a nice area to sail.

Heading round the point I guess you really are on open sea , if I come down there with Spritzig II it will be the closest I'll ever get to blue water cruising

Is the ramp at Parsley Bay at Brooklyn ok to leave car/ trailer overnight . Obviously you had no troubles. I've driven down there before and it seems a populated area so security would not be too much of an issue I suppose .

The ramp has a small sandy area next to it for beaching. Behind the ramp area in the photo is a very large car and trailer parking area with toilets. Talking to regular users no apparent security problems leaving your car/trailer for extended stays. One of the best ramps I have used and some of the finest sailing areas.

Looks like great TS cruising grounds there!

(Anchored near Scotland Island, Pitwater on my Endeavor 24 coastal voyage, Sydney to Brisbane in 1988, but didn't explore up river. )
