Careel forum closing and moving

Post by Ozzie »

Just following an old link on this site I’d posted to the careel forum and found this note . Don’t go (lurk) there much any more but there is some good advice related to our brand of TS sailing particularly in the technical section and in the upcoming shift it will all be going into the ether unfortunately. So anything you wanted to look at grab it now. The forestay setup diagram on investigator you will find on here comes from there.

We are so lucky to have had Geoff take over the forum and keep all of our stuff in the new format. Thanks again mate 👍

Thanks Ozzie, no worries.

Jeez that's sad. I followed your link and had a prowl.

Looking at their layout, one thing I liked was their Boat Register. What do members here think - especially Ray?

Just sail numbers and boat names, no owner identifying info.

Is it worth doing a sticky and putting up the sail numbers and boat names? At least current boat names, and could include former names if we want?

It would be easy for Ray or really any mod to amend. Being a bit more in the forefront might encourage owners to fill any gaps.

Just an idea, it looks good on the Careel site.

Geoff that looks good to me . Ray has a thread with list already so maybe we can just give it a section as per the careel site.

Hey Ozzie,

That would be the go. What do you think - make it a sticky under General Discussion?

I have a record of about 70 Investigators where I know both the boat number and name. Happy to post them in a list if you want.

Sticky or section. Only thing I notice is the section header does stand out on the Careel site. Either is good really maybe a normal thread for updates so members could send in corrections or any other history that comes to mind.

I’ve always wondered about the history of my #143 Spritzig II and if someone would chime in with a few facts from her early days.

I have changed Rays Investigator Magazine Library topic to an announcement, so check that out. We can leave it as an announcement or change it back.

Ray if you want to do the Boat Register topic as you have suggested, you can make it an announcement in the mod tools after creation, or I can.

While cruising through the Careel site I came apron this and thought it was worth posting. Particularly the bit about your email and spam harvesting. I will leave out the bit about the bigger....boat ...oh hang on I just mentioned it

There is in fact lots of good info on the site and some good reading.
