There are a million tooltips and tricks on YouTube, but I’d draw your attention to 8.35 or tip 15 on this video. I have not tried it but at times a hot knife would have seemed very useful when making up running rigging or similar cordage. If you have an old soldering iron at home this may work and you could leave it set up as such. Sorry
I have not tried it so use your own judgment and practice electrical safety . Although I can’t see how this is likely to be more unsafe than a soldering iron.There are some handy things on this video, also some of dubious use but as the old saying goes “you may get different results at home
