Another one on a mooring in Sydney

This one looks pretty daggy. No rudder in view and maybe no motor. However, one of the pics shows what looks like a different keel, thinner. Might have been a special.

Looking closely, I think the keel does have the fat trailing edge but it is disguised by the gunk on it.

I've always wondered why the keel wasn't extended a bit further aft and tapered to reduce drag in the production boats.

I was intrigued by the comment in the advertisement about the boat being a "single owner". I phoned the seller who had listed the boat on behalf of his Uncle Harry who indeed has had this Investigator since new. Harry will send me a few more details about the boat which I'll post when they arrive.

Single hinge so early model.

Anyway to any prospective buyers do not be put off by moored vessels. (14 years experience)

Evaluate any boat on its individual condition, remember most yachts are moored. Under a few barnacles could be a very sound hull whereas a trailer boat might have suffered the vibrations of the Oodnadatta Track. Not likely but possible. I think this price is maybe high if there is no trailer or a motor but sometimes a cheap sound hull with useable sails is a good. You then have control of which motor and trailer to purchase...just a thought. Make a offer, there is plenty of ads to back up a lower offer.

Also I thought I’d add, if you don’t want a trailer you can still slip your boat. The 563 is a quick and easy boat to clean and antifoul so a few days slip fees once a year is probably going to be cheaper than costs of registration/maintenance of a trailer. With the new boat trailer parking rules ( decriminating against boating I consider but not caravans) moored boats may start to look more attractive.

I go past this one on its mooring all the time, you can see it driving across Iron Cove bridge too. It’s actually in pretty good shape, probably better condition than mine. It’s name is “Tambora” I think. Never see it being sailed though, wouldn’t know it’s sail number.

Haven’t see around on its mooring for a few weeks now maybe longer. They might have pulled it out and did some work on it?
