In an earlier post on gunwales, Mark asked me about my bow roller. I include some pics below.
I had it custom made by an engineering friend when I first got QUMBU about 3 years ago; it's made from SS and fits a standard roller and spindle.
It's designed to bolt on to the bow plate, and provide a good rolling surface to lower or raise an anchor over from the foredeck locker.
I think from memory the whole job cost me about $150, with the bulk of that going toward the SS (which at that thickness is not cheap). Still, it's a lifetime investment on this boat anyway.

Many thanks for these detalied photos, i am going to add this to my must do next list right after i have windows replaced, got those ordered, and toerail replaced, sourcing timber.
