Offshore Modifications - 'Current Affair' transom drain etc

Transom drain with non-return flap
Cut through existing foothold into cockpit sole - a box mould made out of ply then glassed over - the glass bx then glassed in bridging the transom and cockpit sole.
Non return flap - alloy plate bent each end drilled and a s/s rod passed through and glassed in both sides. No leaks so far. see previous post "Holy Transom".
The Safety Harness anchor point
s/s u bolt fitted through cockpit corner and a timber ply backing block and then glassed over.

Washboards
Double boards screwed/glued together with inner board sliding in the channel and the outer flush against companionway bulkhead.
With stainless steel pins passing trough both upper and lower washboards (overlapped) and the inner channel.

Mighty impressed on all counts Emrys ...the hatch set up is great, should keep Poseidon out when he is angry. I need to emulate your cockpit drain. I am a total worry wart and I stress about this every time the lake gets rough.

Great job. Description and pictures get the information across. I think they are important modifications, especially to anyone that likes to sail in less than favourable conditions, or like most of us that just find ourselves there once in a while.

I took your good advice and added a harness point to same position you have this morning. Used nylon backing block and all sealed with marine grade silicone
