Offshore modifications - 'Current Affair' front hatch bolts

Post by snoopebj »

To strengthen the hatch when closed I used two 'Romak' SS pad bolts (Bunnings) one either side of the window approx mid way. I had to cut these to length to fit between the window and hatch side. Cut with the pad bolt out ( I almost made the fatal mistake!) These I mounted on spacers - the trusty 10mm nylon cutting board. (missus can't figure out where her cutting boards go.) The struts likewise on spacers but double thickness to clear the bolts.
I then drilled the holes either side of the hatch opening for the bolts. I made it a tight fit so that I have to pull on the struts to engage the hatch bolts. Obviously these bolts will normally be left open and only used when caught out in a blow.
Cheers
