QLD Storms

Post by Ozzie »

I hope if we have any forum members in the path of the the current mayhem in Qld you and your family are all ok . And your rare vintage trailer sailors are all safely tucked up on their trailers. Just watching it all on abc news 60000 without power ..$#it.

Missed this post Ozzie,

This video came up about Lady Musgrave, there was a 60-70 knot storm there in 2020, couple of yachts dragged onto the reef and the rescue chopper saved the crews. :) foretunately it's not too far offshore for the choppers fuel range. Definity need to check the weather forecasts for wind-warnings..

Good video Andrew. Always good to be aware of what can go wrong at sea. The reef has claimed a few boats according to the Wikipedia page on Lady Musgrave, even a Maul floatplane. We’ve driven into 1770, magic little place but never been out to the island. I’d like to just take my dinghy one day and putter around near the town it’s very picturesque.
