Clarence River yacht race 10 October

Post by RobertB »

Paul Trotter, of the Careel 18 Ass here in Brisbane asks

"Will the Investigators join the Careels on the Clarence?
Is there a NSW fleet of Investigators that might be interested in coming north to participate?
If we are not careful this could end up as a state of origin clash for all classes of trailer sailers!"

What do you say folks. Will we join the race and give em a run for their money? Here's a copy of the info

Notice of Race
The Clarence River Yacht Club Incorporated have invited the Careel fleets from New South
Wales and Queensland to fight it out during their third annual Clarence River Yacht Race from
Maclean to Grafton
The event is open to trailable yachts, and they have a special non spinnaker division for our
Careels! Prizes will be awarded and the CCYA will organize a team trophy for the triumphant
State Team.
A team award will be calculated to include both Careel 18s and 22s which will bring both classes
together as allies against their neighbouring states. This has all the makings of the biggest and best
event in the Careel Yachting Calendar.
While Don Ray (Buhawi) and Paul Trotter (Wyuna) can be contacted to discuss logistics most of
the information leading up to the event will be posted in the forum at www.careel.com
Don’t miss this inaugural event as the stories from both camps will be very memorable. All boats
will be expected to fly their respective State Colours and we expect all crews to be wearing their
Maroon or Blue Careel Sunshirts!
The race is run on the very broad and picturesque Clarence River which is lined with cane farms
and cattle properties. They had 50 boats last year so with the careels we should end up to close
to 70 boats on the water.
Logistics:
Date: Saturday 10th October 2009
Race Category: Category 5
Briefing and sign on: 10am Maclean Jetty Park
Start: 11am for Careels
Location: The race will start from Maclean and finish at Corcorane Park in Grafton
Presentation: Prizes will be awarded in the park after the finish.
Cost: Only $30 if you register by 21st September – Beach entries at $40 accepted.
