While Im posting pics I grabbed one of my adjustable backstay. At the suggestion of a sailing friend I fitted a strop on this from day one. If the adjuster rope slips or breaks this is a fallback. I also had one on the forestay to protect the furler connection points when the boat was at rest on the mooring, but it was taken off to sail of course. Now I have fitted the new extra forestay I have built in backup so it is not needed.
