Re: Investigator For Sale e-bay
I had a look at this boat this afternoon. It comes with two mainsails, numbered 148 and 003, with minor stitching damage to the top batten pocket of 148. I doubt they're a very good shape, but they appear structurally sound and fit for another season or two. There's a nice looking jib off of someone...

Re: Tow Vechicle - Buying new one soon - What do you tow with
The Admiral and I had a look at the Nissan X-Trail on Saturday. I never considered one until hearing from Snoop. I sure was impressed. What a nice layout. and the cargo space is enough to actually carry some gear. Not ready to buy yet so did not take for test drive, but sure seemed to be the compro...

Re: 2.2 hp Mercury
Thanks Ian, So that's Newton/metres. What would that be in Foot/Pounds? The archaic wrench I have has megapascals or ft/pds. My 'bit of strain' on the wrist has no numbers. Cheers, Graeme Torque is Newtons x metres, not Newtons / metres! 10 Newtons at 1 metre is 10 Newton metres and is the same as ...

Re: 2.2 hp Mercury
Hi all, I have an old one which I intend to try on Olmate to lighten the stern load for balance when racing though I wouldn't expect it to cope with too much current or wind. It just has a little prop. I took the head off to investigate the pathetic dribble coming from the cooling water telltale an...

Sails and trailers...
What do sails and trailers have in common, I hear you ask? Along with outboards, they're two of the "big ticket" items in a trailer sailer, and being specific to the type of boat, particularly in the case of sails, people are often reluctant to replace ancient sails with new sails for an e...

Careful writing things like that here; I ended up with an irate seller on the phone insisting he wasn't a pushy seller!Cooper wrote:Had a look at that one over a year ago Zeb, it, er, needs work

The main thing I'm learning from looking at other people's boats is how well kept my own boat is.

If anyone is thinking of building a new rudder stock and rudder from scratch, here are some photos of mine for ideas: http://wiremu.com/TSP_photos/Rudder_and_outboard/Rudder_DOWN.jpg http://wiremu.com/TSP_photos/Rudder_and_outboard/Rudder_UP.jpg The black shockcord passes over a couple of sheaves at...

Re: Mainsail Wanted and Should we have a 'Wanted" section ?
(I realise this is an ancient thread) I was surprised to find the mainsail for a Hobie 16 was way too large for my Dennis; a Hobie 14 is about right. If you're looking for cheap sails, the fully battened main off a Hobie 16 might fit an Investigator and will be easier to handle with lazy jacks than ...

Has no outboard, no sails (well, a set of 125 sails...) but the trailer looks good in the photos...
