Re: Molds are STILL available

Gee, If I were 30 years younger, still retired and had enough of a shed, I would jump at them, make a few mods and start building them again. IF ONLY !

Re: Storm Jib

I love the look of mine. It’s myrtle. A Tas native hardwood but it’s problem is that it rots really badly. I only used it to save using up too much of my Huon supply, which would last forever. Main reason I used myrtle is that the boat lives in the shed. I had thought of using stainless tubing but i...

Re: Storm Jib

Hi Ian. If you are going to replace your cabin hand rails with timber, what I did was to cut the curve shape out of a plank of wood so that I ended up with something representing the curves both ways but it was square in section. Then I rounded it after that. It's a lot of work but an effective way ...

Re: Storm Jib

Hi Ian, further to this, I recently had cause to go and see my sail maker, Steve Walker who actually made some of the sails for my boats original owner. Steve advised me that there should be a 4 inch aft rake of the mast on a standard Investigator. that means, that if you drop a plumb bob from the r...

Hi all. Got the new Bow roller and Ronstan Series 60 Furler fitted. Also, I have replaced all the standard rigging which has included adding a set of lower side stays as well as a 2nd Forestay. This prevents the necessity to rely on the swivel of the furler to hold up the mast. Also makes it a lot e...

Re: Sail Trim

Hi Ian, I agree with you in regards to the luff tension. Some with furlers run the halyard down the mast and then back to the cockpit, but I reckon that would make it really difficult to get enough tension on the luff. I have replaced my bow roller / nose cone as well as adding a 2nd hound further u...

Storage Bins

STORAGE BINS. Hi all, I have built 6 storage bins for my Investigator. What I did was to buy six, 18 litre buckets, a length of 1/2" threaded rod, 48 ×1/2" washers and 48 x 1/2" nuts and put them together after removing the hanbles as seen below in two rows of three. The end one of ea...
