Stretched Investigator

Saw this boat on Gumtree. I think I also saw it for sale some years ago. I have always thought that the weather helm would be reduced if the keel was extended all the way to the transom and this sort of heads in that direction a bit. It looks like a professional job but I wonder why it was done. The...

Re: Newbie

G'day Andrew, Tricksy is number 4 so much the same vintage as your boat. Did yours have an outboard well? Mine shows no sign of ever having one despite the fact that initially they were part of the design. Yes I still have my CAL14 which is a great little boat for fun sailing, but no good for carryi...

Re: Newbie

Not so adventurous really! Both my previous Investigators had jib furlers. On one of them I even installed an expensive alloy foil furler but it made rigging and transporting trickier. This boat just came with the three hanked on jibs and a downhaul system. I like the simplicity of that arrangement ...

Re: Newbie

Just back from 2 weeks at Raymond Island. Got the boat set up on it's jetty nicely. Weather was great for the most part and we had four good sails in winds varying up to about 18 knots. Could have sailed more but needed to also spend time in the rowing skiff and also some dog walking and socializing...

Re: are you going to have a sail over Xmas ? 2017

I took up the offer from Wyndam Marina at Werribee South for a months stay for $250 (From 27th Dec). So a few trips planned. - Geelong, Port Arlington, Blairgowie etc. Looking forward to lots of sailing. However, all I have to do now is to fix the leak in my Bilge... sigh. I assume you have a jet-s...

Re: Newbie

Finally found the time and weather to do a little shake-down at Lake Eppalock near Bendigo today. The boat tows well and en-route I put it over the weigh-bridge in Kyneton. Not sure what the towball download is - perhaps 50-80kgs. by the feel of it, but the rest of it came in at 1,180kgs. That is wi...

Re: Hull Identification Numbers

So that means Tricksy is about 42 which is the "meaning of life" number. Quite appropriate! :)

Re: Hull Identification Numbers

I'm only assuming Tricksy is #4 as that is what is on the mainsail. Then again she does have a single hinge on the forward hatch which I believe indicates an early boat.

If she is in fact #4, roughly what year was she made?
