Re: Specs of original outboard well
Calaway had a transon built into the port lock. A 3.5 Tohatsu mounted was able to be tilted up out of the water as the hole in the hull was shaped like an egg plant. A hinged flap of this very shape could be closed when the motor was not being used. After having the motor swamped a vew times from su...

Re: Roller reefer
Calaway has a solid torque tube and it works very well for reefing. As for stepping the mast with this system and headsail attached, it adds a bit of weight but I can manage the lift on my own. Life jackets
Hi again all,
I need to buy new life jackets as the very old Tafts' are well and truly past it.
I would appreciate any info to help with what to consider for this very important part of sailing.
Thanks in advance

Calaway's original name
I have found the original name for my boat. It is Tarawera.
Does anyone know anything about her past? I didn't put her in the water this week as planed, hopefully this weekend.

Re: Whale Watching
Hi Ian,
I have never been to Barowra Waters boat ramp. Perhaps I should do a reccy first. Wednesday or Thursday would be when I launch, weather permitting.

Re: Whale Watching
Thanks for the great photos. I'll have some to post in a weeks time. I plan on launching at Borowra Waters next week and spend a few days alone sailing.
